Format & Scoring

Men's League uses a 1 Net Best Ball format. Teams are flighted based on the handicaps of the entire team.

Flights & Handicaps

An active handicap must be submitted for each golfer before league play. Under the previous league rules, a team without an active handicap for every player was assessed a one-point deduction each week until all team members had active handicaps.

The 2025 league used 80% of each player's GHIN Handicap Index. The handicap percentage and procedure for 2027 will be confirmed before the season begins.

Substitutes

Non-member substitutes are permitted. Previous league rules allowed a non-member substitute to play a maximum of eight times for a team.

Substitute names and team changes must be submitted by email. Substitutes are not accepted by phone.

To ensure a substitute is entered before play, changes should be submitted by 12:00 PM on league day.

Substitute fees and GHIN requirements for the 2027 season will be confirmed before league begins.

Skins

Men's League has previously offered a prepaid gross skins competition. Participating golfers competed only against other players entered in skins.

The 2027 skins entry fee, flight groupings and payout structure will be confirmed before the season.

Playing Rules

• A player may mark, pick up, clean and replace their ball at any time.
• For a shot hit out of bounds, a player may re-hit from the previous location with a one-stroke penalty or use the league fairway-drop option with a two-stroke penalty.
• Opponents may concede a putt or require the player to putt out. Once a putt is conceded, the player should pick up the ball.
• Players are required to mark their ball when requested.
• Free relief may be taken from sprinkler heads, cart paths and designated ground under repair, no closer to the hole.
• If a ball enters a tree and does not come down, take a two-stroke penalty and drop in the fairway.
• For a lost ball that cannot be found, the player may drop at a location agreed upon by the opposing team and take a two-stroke penalty.
• Balls in bunkers must be played as they lie.

Sportsmanship

League play should be competitive and enjoyable for golfers of varying skill levels. Players should not ridicule another player's ability or give unsolicited instruction.

Unsportsmanlike conduct may result in disqualification from league play.

No-Shows & Ghost Teams

Under the previous league structure, when an entire team failed to appear, its opponent automatically received 4.5 points per twosome, with additional points available for net birdies and net eagles.

If only two players from a team are present, one player must play against each of the opposing team's groups.

Payouts

SHGA fees and GHIN payments have historically been excluded when calculating league payouts. Remaining league funds supported payouts across flights and both halves of the league season.

The 2027 payout structure will be confirmed before play begins.
