The Southern Hills course team maintains the fairways, greens, bunkers, roughs and grounds that shape the experience of every round. Their work combines turf knowledge, years of experience and a genuine connection to the course.

A Hastings native, Dan studied business administration at the University of Nebraska at Kearney and commercial horticulture at Central Community College.
His golf course experience began while helping build Meadowlark Hills in Kearney, where he later worked on the maintenance staff. Having grown up playing Southern Hills, Dan welcomed the opportunity to return to his home course and has worked to make it a course Hastings can be proud of.
A native of Lawrence, Nebraska, Cole earned a degree in Horticulture and Turfgrass Management from Southeast Community College.
He joined Southern Hills as a seasonal crew member in 2022 and returned the following year to complete his internship. After graduating, Cole joined the team as Assistant Superintendent, continuing a passion for turf care that began with mowing lawns in his hometown.

Jim joined Southern Hills after retiring from H&H Distributing. He primarily cares for the front-nine fairways and lends a hand wherever needed on the course.
Jerry moved to Hastings after retiring in 2021 and joined the Southern Hills crew that August. He enjoys both playing the course and helping care for it.
A longtime area educator and coach, Fred retired in 2020 after 31 years at Clay Center and Hastings Middle School. He now brings that same work ethic to the Southern Hills course crew.
Don spent 36 years teaching and coaching before retiring in 2018. He has also been part of the Southern Hills grounds crew for more than 15 years.
A familiar face in Hastings after 40 years at Murphy's Wagon Wheel, Bob now spends his time outdoors mowing roughs and helping care for the course.
